Traditional
Country Music where art thou? If you are looking for traditional
Country Music, look no further than Tony Stampley. If the Stampley
name sounds familiar to you, then you must surely remember hit
maker Joe Stampley, Tony's father. Joe Stampley was a hit singer
as part of the duo "Moe and Joe" with Moe Bandy.
Tony Stampley is also one of Hank Williams, Jr's favorite writers.
Tony's songs have appeared on no less than 8 of Hank Jr's CDs.
Tony's music is easy. It's "country as cornbread."

Anne Freeman - Born
into the Country Music business, Tony is the son of Pop &
Country artist Joe Stampley, whose recordings were the staple
of Pop & Country charts of the '60s and '70s. Tony began
his professional career at age 17 as a member of his father's
touring band. His musical includes influences from artists such
as Charlie Daniels, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard,
and Boz Skaggs. After some of Tony's songs found a home with
Hank Jr., including "I Like My Whiskey On Ice And My Women
On Fire," "I've Been Down But Not This Far Before"
and "Woman On The Run, Tony felt the call to Nashville.
In fact, Joe Stampley would let Tony sing those songs on his
tours, giving Tony his first taste as a singer. "Daddy
would let me sing some of the songs I'd written for Hank, and
the crowd would go crazy," he says. "That's when I
knew for sure I wanted to be an artist myself."
